Does a Faraday bag drain the battery?
A closed cage can make a phone search harder for a tower, which can raise radio use until the phone gives up. That is not a reason to skip isolation if isolation is the job. It is a reason not to leave a phone hunting inside a bag for days unless you also power it down.
Faraday Zone will note power-off versus airplane-mode versus bag-only on test write-ups. We will not pretend those three are the same.
Fit
Inner opening matters more than marketing “fits most phones.” Large cases, MagSafe wallets, and camera bumps change fit. Confirm inner size on the product page before you assume a Pro Max in a thick case will close the fold.
Questions
- Will a Faraday bag block iMessage and calls?
- If the cage is closed and the stack works at cellular and Wi-Fi frequencies, the phone should lose those radios. Until Faraday Zone tests a SKU, that is a maker claim plus a closure warning, not a lab score.
- Can I charge a phone inside a Faraday bag?
- A cable through the wall is a leak unless the bag is built as a filtered feed-through. Standard phone bags are isolation bags. Charge outside, then seal.
